September 14th
Seriously? September 14th was almost an entire week ago. That's like 550 years in Mom-with-middle-aged-kids-who-are-trying-to-be-involved-in-every-free-after-school-activity-offered days.
One middle-aged daughter wanted to put another activity on Tuesdays. Remember Tuesdays? It has slacked up since one soccer practice was moved to Mondays, but still. . . She had quite a few friends who were signing up for a particular after school club. I was so grateful for the mom of one of the girls in this group who just said - she doesn't have time. Whoot! Shout out to that mother! I want my kids to be involved and accomplish many things. But sometimes you really have to pick and choose with that good, better, best thing.
So where was I? Oh yes. Wednesday last.
I went to critique group. Love Love LOVE this group. I come home raring to go every time. And the deadlines really make me find out things about my plot. Who knew my main character's father had been killed by the very people he needed to trade with to save the rest of his family? Not me - until I wrote this week's installment.
Lou and the S-Train went and hung out at the church so that I could go. The oldest stayed home and did homework. Again. A pizza making party is fun and great and bonding and all that, but not when you still have a pile of homework. It'll ease up after tennis/marching band are over. That, or it'll be time for a little primal scream therapy. (Anyone else remember that? Or is that an inside joke from when I was younger? Yeah. Probably.)
