I've been watching a little Design Star on the computer, trying to
When I've been rumbling around for days and things still aren't coming together, those last 30 minutes become even more of a mystery. (But then, it's always easier to do someone else's house).
So - I just called my neighbor. We love her home and she is so good at furniture arrangement and decorating. She has a terrific spare style that I crave but haven't yet achieved. She came over and mixed us up.
We LOVE it. There are a few things I wish I could keep the same, but all in all, this is the first time that our living room looks like a "couch room" - in the words of one of my daughters. And it solved my chief problem, which was that we couldn't all sit and watch a movie together with enough comfortable seats for everyone. Now we can!!!! I'm even craving a living room rug. Before it always seemed extra, but not necessary.
The S-Train came into the house and ran back out to his sister quoting the Incredibles. "Wierd things are happening!"
Batter UP
In other news, we found a bat laying on the floor in the crack between the back door and the screen. We thought it was sick or dead because it was laying so still.
One child was in tears because we couldn't possibly take care of a sick little bat, and it might die. We called a wildlife group in the area, who said they would take it if it was still there in the morning, and felt a little better.
We wanted to grill, so it had to leave, so Mr. C got on his gloves, grabbed a spatula, closed the back door, and tried to scoop it up to move it somewhere better.
It cheeped at him and showed little white teeth. Then it flew off into our neighbor's tree. Apparently it had gotten stuck in there last night, and was just sleeping during the day like a good little nocturnal creature.
Quite the excitement.
ps. Yes that spatula will be thoroughly cleaned before coming near food.
