It's been a crazy month (OK, 6 weeks) since I posted last. So - just a summary to help me remember what we did.
the S-Train had a zoo field trip. Got to meet a new mom. Great fun.
The oldest had five more football games, a parade, and two all day Saturday marching band festivals. She also had a piano recital, fall festival, tennis wrapped up their games and had a banquet, and she took the PSAT. She's now in charge of the large group performances for the CIS (Center for international Studies) for their cabaret at school. Her schedule makes my head hurt.
Sue joined Click and Clack (an afterschool needlework group where she's learning to knit.) and the Science Olympiad. She babysat a couple of times and made dinner for the neighbors. Her favorite class is foods class. She's having a great time getting together with friends.
Lou played the violin in the ward Primary program and had her normal after/before school stuff.
Both Sue, Lou and the S-Train have their last soccer games of the season this Saturday.
And Mr. C did his canoe race.
Here's part of an email I sent to update family one week.
Here's a look into our busy week.
The oldest had a piano recital, fall piano festival (she got a 4), a football game to play at, and an all day marching band festival (they got a superior rating!)
Sue had soccer, afterschool clubs, learned flower arranging at Young Women's, and had great fun staying up until 4am at her friend's house playing the wii.
Lou and the S-Train had their normal after/before school stuff and kept their mom company on the way to pick up dad.
We sold $100 worth of cinnamon rolls at the school holiday boutique. (Sue hung out with the S-Train while Lou and the oldest manned the booth for the last 3 hours because mom had area leadership training).
We encountered the black screen of death on our computer - luckily it means the monitor was going out - not that the computer is dead.
Mom got a pedicure, did homework, and covered the kitchen in flour and sugar. She had a great conversation with old friends and did a temple session. When they got back from picking up dad she ran straight over to the church with a bunch of kids and we had primary program practice. (Lou is playing her violin in that.)
Mr. C got back from a week living with an Indian tribe for some work training and started and finished his canoe race. (The race was supposed to be this summer but was delayed because of the dangerous flooding.) His friend K from high school came up and they did four days on 12-14 hours of sleep. They were in one of the heaviest canoes and took everything with them because they didn't have a support crew. (see above for reasons why.) About 100 boats started and around 30 didn't finish. They beat Mr. C's previous time! K was battling a toothache and a sinus headache and hadn't canoed in over 20 years. Luckily they had great weather except for one stormy night. Unfortunately that got K's phone wet. (It's in rice rehab.) They were tired and sore. We fed them as soon as possible. They fell asleep quickly. Their goal was to do something hard and finish. Check! Mission accomplished.
Hope your week is great!
But, this doesn't really address my main concern - what did I get done. I hope that's not selfish. I want to feel productive. And sometimes, I'm not. So - here's a list of list check off's.
Got the chimney inspected and the heater checked for winter.
The S-Train and I saw the dentist.
Went to parent teacher conferences.
We have a new computer monitor (Mr. C bought it, but hey, it's done.)
Got the next manuscript done and went to critique group.
Got a pedicure.
Did some shopping for me and girls (didn't find much.)
Decorated for Halloween
Everyone got out the door with a Halloween costume. They were shopped for and made.
Halloween candy was bought and passed out.
Went through some of the S-Train's clothes. Got a new tie for him.
Took the S-Train's pictures (may do retakes, but they turned out pretty good.)
Planned menus, which we are not necessarily following, but I have ideas.
Went through the old CNC box for PTA.
Made a bunch of phone calls.
Arrangements were made for the end of the canoe race. I now like priceline.
Activated the oldest's dead phone.
Ordered pizzas for primary practice and the program went great!
Sent a wedding gift to the Northwest with the hubs.
Recolored hair
Went to the temple.
Bought some new vases at a garage sale for next year.
Returned library books.
Plus I got homework done and no one went naked for lack of clothes. That's what I call good.
