New Year

Christmas is done, a New Year has Begun.

I think I might just skip the list check off because things went on and off that list so quickly.

But - we had a few get togethers.  Had a neighborhood caroling party without caroling. We delivered treats to our neighbors and VT/HT people and a few friends.  Except the ones who weren't home.  And now - may or may not get a make up treat.  Sigh.  I feel so bad not getting to people, but what can you do when they won't stay home?  And I wish I could take a Christmas treat to everyone I know.  If only that were physically possible.

Christmas and all the crazy present making and giving came and was fabulous.

I think my most favorite part of Christmas this year was watching my children make gifts for family members.  We started a few days ahead of time.  Their creativity was beautiful to behold  (even when it was gathered from a cruise down pintrest lane).  They were so sweet and thoughtful about their gifts.
That's the best part. And the part I think they'll remember the longest.

My least favorite part about Christmas was that I had children up finishing presents for each other until almost midnight Christmas Eve.  YIKES!!  (There's a  bad habit being passed down there somewhere.)  Two of the girls and I were watching Midnight Mass from St. Peters cathedral while finishing a few things.  (broadcast did start at 11.)  One of them said it made everything feel more Christmasy.  I think I agree.  Mostly because the whole focus was on worshiping Christ and not on anything commercial.

Then we played and played.  We took kids on friend outings and tried to arrange others that just didn't seem to work out.  We enjoyed an overload of us and friends.  It was good.

Although, in the process of the New Year's Eve balloon drop in our living room we managed to take off part of the ceiling sheet rock with the duck tape holding up our sheet that held the balloons.  Guess some spackling is top on the New Year's projects now.  But it was fun.

Christmas cards finally got mailed to the relatives and far away friends.  And now.  It's the new year.

The Christmas dec's are all in boxes in the basement and I need to go remember how I fit them all on the shelves last year.

My house feels a bit naked without all its Christmas dressing.  But then, I also feel like there's more room to breathe.  A nice breathing space for all the new things a new year will bring.
